THE interns at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Wednesday threatened to launch an undefined strike in protest at allowing internship of private medical college students at the hospital.
They pressed for their demand in a meeting with the hospital’s acting director Professor Dayem Uddin at his office at noon. RMCH sources said recently the hospital authorities decided that private medical college students will also get the opportunity of internship at the hospital.
Already some private medical college students have started their internship at the hospital.
Protesting at the initiative, the interns at around 12.00pm on Wednesday brought out a procession and paraded several points at the hospital.
They went to all wards of the hospital and met the senior physicians of the hospital seeking their support in favour of their demand.
The interns have alleged that the quality of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital will fall as the private medical college students have started to give treatment to the patients.
Dayem Uddin told New Age that the authorities would consider the demand of RMCH interns after meeting with director general the health department.
