Interns of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital withdrew their indefinite strike on Wednesday noon being assured by the authorities of meeting their demands.
The interns went on strike in the hospital demanding payment of their monthly allowance regularly.
They brought out a procession in the hospital compound on Tuesday morning and later held a meeting.
RMCH unit intern physicians’ association president Farhad Hossain and general secretary Shamiul Fahad Riphat addressed the meeting.
Speakers at the programme said they were not paid allowances for the last two months (May and June) for reasons unknown.
So the association called the indefinite strike in the hospital from the night shift on Tuesday.
Later they met the RMCH director at his office Wednesday noon.
RMCH unit interns’ association organising secretary Abdullah AL- Mamun Jesi said, ‘We sat with the director and had a successful talk. The director assured us of clearing the payment immediately.’
The association withdrew the strike Wednesday noon.
The RMCH director, Golam Mostafa, said, ‘The interns have withdrawn their strike as we have satisfactory talk with them over paying their outstanding allowances within a week.’
