At least five people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Noakhali, Benapole, Kurigram and Gopalganj yesterday and on Wednesday.
Our Correspondent from Satkhira reports: A four-year-old child was killed in a road accident on Satkhira-Fingri road at village Faizullapur in Sadar upazila yesterday.
Urmi, daughter of Shahadat Hossain of village Faijullaur in the upazila, was injured seriously as a trolley hit her while she was playing beside the road. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
A correspondent from Noakhali says: One person was killed and seven others were injured in separate road accidents in Sonaimuri and Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
An accident occurred when a speedy truck hit a roadside tree at Uttar Wapda area of Sadar upazila as its driver lost his control over the steering early yesterday, leaving its helper dead on the spot and driver injured.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 30.
Another accident occurred on Sonaimuri-Laksham highway in Nutun Bazar area under Sonaimuri upazila when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Econo Paribahan fell into a ditch while trying to make way for another bus coming from opposite direction, leaving six people injured.
A Correspondent from Benapole adds: One person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on Benapole-Jessore highway at Godkhali area early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Mashiur Rahman, 45, son of Tayob Ali of Lautara village in Sharsha upazila.
Navaron Highway Police Camp In-Charge Sub-Inspector Belal Hossain said the accident occurred at around 5:00am when the driver of a Benapole-bound passenger bus of Sohag Paribahan from Dhaka lost his control over the steering and hit a roadside tree, leaving Mashiur dead on the spot.
Our correspondent from Kurigram adds: A day-labourer was killed in a road accident at Uttar Beparihat Bazar of Nageswari upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Wahidul Islam, 19, of Shapkhawa village of the same upazila.
A truck on the Bhurungamari-Kurigram road crushed him on his way home from the nearby OMS market. Wahid succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Local people set fire to a truck disrupting road communication for two hours.
A correspondent from Gopalganj says: A bicyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident when a truck hit them from behind on Gopalganj-Tekerhat highway in Boultoli area on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Arman Sikdar, 15, son of Ibadat Sikdar of Dalnia village of Sadar upazila. Nadim Molla, 14, was injured.
Locals rushed the injured children Khulna General Hospital where Arman succumbed to his injuries early yesterday.
