At least six people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj and Natore yesterday.
Our correspondent from Brahmanbaria reports: Four people were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Brahmanbaria-Comilla highway at Kharera of Kasba upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Md Shahjahan Bhuiyan, 18, of Kahrera village of Kasba upazila, Md Mujibur Rahman, 45, of Debiddyar in Comilla, Md Rafiqul Islam, 45, of Debiddyar and one unidentified person, 28, supposed to be the CNG driver of Companyganj in Comilla.
Police said the accident took place around 9:30am when a Chittagong-bound speedy truck hit a CNG run auto-rickshaw from opposite direction leaving two dead on the spot and injured four others.
Of the injured, Md Shahjahan Bhuiyan and Md Rafiqul Islam succumbed to their injuries on the way to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. Critically injured Hafej Ahmed, 45, was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other one admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
The bodies were sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police seized the truck but the driver and helper of the truck fled the spot.
A case was filed with Kasba Police Station in this connection.
Our correspondent from Kishoreganj adds: A boy was killed in a road accident at Puranthana in Kishoreganj yesterday.
The decesed was identified as Muhammad Yaseen,18, son of Abul Kashem
of Ukilpara in Kishoreganj.
Police said the accident occurred at about 10:00am when a sand laden truck crushed Yaseen under its wheel while he was sitting on his motorcycle nearby Puranthana bridge, leaving him dead on the spot.
Mir Musarraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station, said the body was sent to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed with Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station in this connection.
Our correspondent from Natore adds: An elderly person was killed in a road accident at Lalpur of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 60, a resident of Panghata of Lalpur upazila.
Police said the accident took place when a sugar cane carrying trolley of North Bengal Sugar Mill hit behind the motorbike of Abdus Sattar, leaving him critically injured.
Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalpur Police Station, said Sattar succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
