A deputy assistant engineer of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL) was killed and three pedestrians were injured in a road accident at Phulbari in Dinajpur on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Shahabur Rahman, 30, a deputy assistant engineer of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL), son of Md Abbas Ali of village West Gouripara in Phulbari upazila.
The injured were identified as Farhad Hossain, 26, son of Md Abul Hossain of village Chakchaka, Shukur Ali 40, son of late Amlat Ali and Sayed Ali, son of late Tayab Ali both were hailed from Uttar Sujapur village of Phulbari upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a speedy tractor ramped into a roadside tea stall in front of Phulbari health complex.
The injured persons were having tea at the roadside tea stall, police added.
The injured persons were rushed to Phulbari Health Complex in critical condition. Of them Shahabuddin shifted to Dinajpur Medical College and succumbed to his injuries.
The helper and driver of the tractor fled the spot after the accident.
Our correspondent from Brahmanbaria adds: One person was killed in a road accident while a speedy truck hit him down on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shahbazpur village of Sarail upazila in the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sipan Mia, 9, son of Md Dewan Mia, of Shahbazpur village under Sarail upazila.
Police said the accident took place when a Sylhet-bound speedy truck from Dhaka knocked him down on the road while Sipon was crossing the highway, and injured seriously.
He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
The driver and helper of the truck escaped the scene after the accident.

The accident occured at 1:30pm when a Kishoreganj-bound Tomtom (three wheeler) turn upside down on the road as its driver lost his control over steering and injured 14, who went to participate in a meeting of Jubodal in Kishoreganj.
