Four persons were killed and 10 others injured in road accidents in Chittagong, Gaibandha, and Satkhira yesterday.
A Chittagong correspondent reports: A labourer was killed and five others injured when a wood-laden truck plunged into a ditch off Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda yesterday morning.
On board the truck, Nurul Islam, 27, from Narayangonj, died on the spot after the accident happened near Sultana Mandir in the upazila around 6:30am.
Two of the injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and three other unidentified workers took primary treatment at the local health complex.
Our Gaibandha correspondent writes: One person was killed and five others wounded when a speeding truck rammed a three-wheeler, locally known as tempo, on Bogra-Rangpur highway in Avirampur yesterday.
Gulzar Hossain, 25, was on board the tempo hit by the Rangpur bound truck and died on the spot. The injured were taken to Palashbari health complex. Police seized the truck, but the driver and helper managed to flee.
Our correspondent from Satkhira says: A youth died on the spot after a bus hit his motorcycle from behind in the district’s Kaliganj yesterday. Zahidul Islam, 28, of Kulia village in Debhata upazil, was a trader.
