Popular teleplay director and TV commercial maker Redoan Rony has taken an initiative to introduce the first online TV channel of the country named Popcorn Live TV, which is already running online test transmission.
People will be able to watch the latest television shows, films, music videos and others via internet on their computers, tablets and mobile phones. Test transmission of the TV channel began on December 15 at www.popcornlive.tv, said Redoan Rony, it would be formally launched in January.
Explaining the reason behind initiating the project Rony said, ‘The people are increasingly becoming dependent on internet and a good number of them at home and abroad watch Bangladeshi teleplays, films and music videos logging in on youtube, which is not profitable for the makers and producers.’
‘But, on the online TV channel, the producers and makers would be paid against the hits on the contents,’ he said.
Rony further said that the online TV channel would also air live shows and there would be an archive for the viewers who would miss the live programmes.
‘We have designed some very entertaining shows for our viewers. We will bring a few drama series and special programmes like Mr Misfit, Underground Level 6, and many others,’ added Rony, who also informed that the TV channel will air commercially sometime next month. Redoan Rony said that for his online TV channel project he was not making any teleplays, daily soaps or films. ‘I hope to start a new film venture after the launching of the online TV channel,’ Rony said.
