A female student of Rajshahi University (RU) was killed in a road accident in the university’s Main Gate area on Friday morning. The decased identified as Sabrin Jahan, a second year student of the Sociology department of RU, hails from Kahaloo upazila under Bogra district. A fellow student of Jahan, who accompanied her during the accident, said they were going for shopping riding a rickshaw at around 10:00 am. At that time, Sabrin all of a suddent fell to the ground from the rickshaw as it had a jerk while crossing a speed breaker near the RU main gate. Then a battery-run auto-rickshaw ran over Sabrin killing her on the spot. A number of students took her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctos declared her dead. RU student adviser Professor Sadekul Arefin, head of the Sociology department, also rushed to the hospital.
