Rajshahi University folklore department celebrated its 12th anniversary of inception among enthusiasm, festive mood, fanfare and participation of present and past teachers, students and staff of the department on Saturday.
A few hundred students and teachers bought out a procession carrying festoons and banners on the RU campus, marking the day.
RU vice-chancellor M Abdus Sobhan, pro-vice chancellor M Nurullah and folklore department chairman Abul Hasan Choudhury cut a cake and released pigeon and balloons, marking the anniversary.
Abdus Sohan urged for ensuring congenial educational atmosphere in the university while addressing the inaugural session of the celebrations for the day’s observation.
