The first ever South Asian Women’s Football tournament, scheduled to be held in December in Cox’s Bazar, has been deferred by a week, said the Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday.
The decision was taken on the sideline of an Asian Football Confederation meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. The tournament, originally scheduled for December 4-12, will now be held from December 12-24.
For the first time, all the South Asian countries will meet in women’s football through this tournament. In the past, they played in only one competition at the South Asian level and that too was on Bangladeshi soil earlier this year in the SA Games.
Afghanistan, the Maldives and Bhutan did not send women’s team in the SA Games.
