Sadharan Bima on Monday pulled out from the Club Cup Hockey Tournament, just one day before the tournament starts at the Moulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium today.
The team decided not to take part in the tournament due to the current political situation. The Bangladesh Hockey Federation decided to proceed with the six remaining teams.
The BHF rescheduled Monday’s fixtures and split the six teams into two groups. Defending champions Usha Krira Chakra, Ajax Sporting Club and Azad Sporting Club will face each other in group A, while last year’s runners-up Abahani Limited, Sonali Bank Sporting & Recreation Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club will contest group B.
Abahani Limited will face Dhaka Wanderers Club in the opening match today, while Usha Krira Chakra will take the field against Azad Sporting Club on Wednesday.
The top two teams in each group will move on to the semi-finals. The final is scheduled for January 15.
