The first round of the 28th Runner Group Amateur Golf Championship 2013 was held at the Kurmitola Golf Club on Wednesday.
In the individual event of the five-day meet, Mohammad Sagar of Bangladesh topped the leaderboard after firing four-under-par 68 while Karan Taunk of India was in second place with two-under-par 70 and Pakistan’s Mohamamad Wasim Rana hit one-under-par 71 to be placed third in the list.
Though Bangladesh’s rising amateur golfers Mohamamd Nazimuddin and Mohammad Sjib Ali were jointly in the fourth position with level-par 72, still they were hopeful of doing better by improving their performance in the next rounds and raise the image of the country.
In the team event,
Bangladesh A and B teams were jointly holding the top position, while Pakistan and India were in second and third positions respectively.
