The Bangladesh Football Federation is all introduce a new format for the Bangladesh Premier League after it agreed hand over the marketing rights of the competition to sponsor Saif Powertec Limited for next five years. The BFF in an emergency meeting of its executive committee on Thursday took the decision of signing an agreement with the company which will give Tk 4 crore for each year.
In exchange, the company will enjoy all marketing rights and take 75 per cent revenue from ticket selling.
Unlike the past, when the league matches were held in home-and-away basis, the BFF this time decided to host the league in phases at six venues across the country.
A team of officials comprising representatives of BFF, National Sports Council, BFF and Saif Powertec recently visited seven venues in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barisal, Mymensingh and Gopalganj for this purpose.
The league is expected to start on July 15.
‘We will host the league in six venues,’ said BFF’s vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy. ‘At least two rounds will be held in each venue. All 12 teams will be involved in every venue,’ he said.
