National football team’s Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet expressed his satisfaction after a six-day long training camp with the 28-member preliminary squad as he believed he had received enough information about the players. The new coach conducted the camp to select the national team ahead of Bangladesh’s Asian Cup Qualifying Play-offs against Bhutan, scheduled on September 6 and October 10 in Dhaka and Thimpu respectively.
On Sunday, the last day of the camp, coach had a two-hour-long training session with his squad at the Kamalapur Stadium where he also arranged a practice match after splitting the players into two groups.
‘We had nine training sessions together and I have gathered a lot of information,’ said the 43-year old coach.
‘I’m quite satisfied with the commitment and motivation of the players. It was a pleasure to work with them for six days along with the staffs in a good atmosphere and I believe some of them are quality players.’
Sainfiet said the fitness level of the players is not up to the mark but in the coming days they will get into full fitness by playing in the Bangladesh Premier League.
‘The physical shape was not yet up to level but the coming weeks when the league starts, when they start playing weekly matches I’m sure they will be fit.’
‘We have something good, but if we get someone better we will go for him. That’s why I will see some matches of the Premier League in the coming weeks and if I find some better players in different positions, I will invite them in the camp for sure.’
