National cricket team head coach Chandika Hathurinsinghe asked suspended all-rounder Sakib al Hasan to join the practice on August 2, sources confirmed on Tuesday. Sakib came into the practice session of the Tigers on Tuesday and spent a good amount of time in the dressing room. He also had a long discussion with Hathurinsinghe over his practice management before finally getting the green signal from the coach.
Sakib was banned by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for six months for his severe attitude problem.
Recently he had submitted a prayer to reduce his punishment, though the BCB gave no word.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan said they will consider his appeal positively, but insisted no decision will be taken before Eid-ul-Fitr, ruling the all-rounder out from the forthcoming West Indies tour.
‘From the day of the suspension till date his behaviour does not indicate anything negative,’ Nazmul told reporters at a programme on Monday.
‘So we are seeing some positive sign in him for the first time,’ he said
‘[But] I don’t think there is any chance of him getting into the West Indies squad,’ said Nazmul.
‘He had submitted an appeal and we have to discuss the issue as it was a collective decision of the board members.’
