Sakib al Hasan made important contributions with the bat and ball to help his side Jamaica Tallawahs beat Trinbago Knight Riders on Saturday in the second qualifier to confirm their berth in the final of Caribbean Premier League. Andre Russell made a belligerent 44-ball 100 and Sakib played a second fiddle with his 23-ball 19 runs in their 101-run partnership to post 195-7 for Jamaica before Trinbago made 110-7 in 12 overs.
Sakib picked up 3-23 to reduce Trinbago and helped Jamaica win the match by 19 runs in Duckworth/Lewis method.
Jamaica, who lost the play-off final against Amazan Warriors, were sent into bat and despite a 35 off 36 from their skipper Chris Gayle were reduced into 67-4 before Sakib and Russell added 101 runs in just 53 balls.
Sakib was bowled in the bowling of Kevon Kooper to finish his 19-run innings but Russell remained not out and put up a good total on the board.
In reply, Hashim Amla (37) and Brandon McCullum (38) but Sakib got rid of Amla, thanks to Kumar Sangakkara’s stumping before picking up Sunil Narine (6) and Trinbago skipper (duck) in the same over to make the equation tough for them.
Jamaica will face Amazon in the final today.
