Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan and opening batsman Tamim Iqbal are set to face each other in the inaugural game of the Caribbean Premier League T20 as both of them
were selected in the players’ draft at Jamaica on Wednesday.
Sakib was chosen to feature for Barbados while Tamim was picked by the St Lucia franchise in the players’ auction held at the Half Moon Bay Resort in Montego Bay.
Barbados and St Lucia are scheduled to face off in the opening game on July 30. A total of 24 matches will take place across six venues with the final to be held on August 24.
Sakib will make his mark as a Pool A player which will fetch him $100,000 while Tamim will play as a Pool C player which will earn him $70,000.
Every team consisted of two franchise players, four players from Pool A, seven players from Pool B and two from Pool C as part of a 15-man squad.
Each team were comprised of a head coach, an assistant coach, one West Indian and one international player who will be responsible for team selection.
