Bangladesh’s all-rounder Sakib al Hasan is eyeing to do something special in the Big Bash League as he left Dhaka to join Adelaide Sixers on Friday to begin his maiden campaign in the Australian Twenty20 competition. ‘I am looking forward to contributing with something special,’ Sakib told New Age ahead of his departure. ‘I am happy to be able to partcipate in the Big Bash League because of the weight it carries among the ongoing Twenty20 tournaments in the world,’ said Sakib.
Adelaide Strikers signed Sakib as a replacement player for their injured captain Johan Botha, providing him with the opportunity to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer in the Big Bash League.
Sakib added that the challenge in the BBL would help him prepare for the upcoming international season as there would be enough Twenty20 matches for Bangladesh national team that includes the ICC Twenty20 tournament scheduled from March-April 16.
‘It is considered to be a one of ther biggest Twenty20 competition, so certainly there is a challenge to do well and I am looking forward to it,’ said Sakib.
‘It would provide an opportunity for me to prepare myself for the upcoming international series,’ he said.
Sakib is expected to join the side for Sunday’s game against Sydney Sixers in Adelaide.
