The Bangladesh Cricket Board has finally come up with an official warning for embattled skipper Sakib al Hasan after his recent outburst against selectors and a decision to skip training created a furor.
The BCB sent a warning letter to Sakib on Sunday, confirmed the officials, adding that the skipper was told of his limit and that he should not cross it under any circumstances.
Sakib irritated a number of BCB officials when he claimed that the selectors did not discuss with him about the squad for the Zimbabwe series and disowned it after he arrived from England.
He later skipped the first two days of training under new coach Stuart Law without any permission from the BCB and was rather busy shooting a commercial for a yogurt product called Shakti Doi.
The BCB chief executive officer, Manzur Ahmed, had a meeting with him and the selectors to clear the air, but most of the BCB directors were in favour of at least issuing a warning to him.
This was the first warning for Sakib since he made his debut for the Tigers in 2006 and was made interim skipper in 2009. He had breached the code of conduct on several occasions but every time the BCB showed some leniency to him considering his age and to some extent his performance.
