Veteran swimmer Karar Samedul retired from competitive swimming after he participated in the 50m breast-stroke in the eighth Bangladesh Games at the
National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Tuesday.
‘I think it is the right time for me to retire as it will provide me with the perfect opportunity to hone my skill as a swimming trainer,’ Samedul told reporters at Mirpur.
‘I am confident that there are a lot of talented swimmers in our country and if they are provided with the right kind of direction, they can claim gold in the South Asian Games,’ said Samedul.
Samedul, hailing from Kishorganj, represented Bangladesh in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
