Screenplays have been called for making digital films at a press conference held on Saturday at the Bangal Shilpalaya in Dhanmondi.
The organisers also informed that the newly formed Bengal Film Development Forum, an enterprise of Bengal Foundation, which was launched on the day, has the plan to produce at
least 10 digital films a year.Its debut project titled Young Cinema Directors’ Project intends to encourage promising filmmakers to make their first or second full length feature or documentary films, said the organisers.
It will invest a maximum of taka 60 lakhs for each film, they said.
Project representatives Abul Khair, Luva Nahid Chowdhury, Asaduzzaman Noor MP, Shohidul Islam Khokon, Manzarehissin Murad and Nobonita Chowdhury, among others, spoke.
Amid speeches and exchange of opinions the forum also launched its website www.bengalcinema.com, which also contains the rules of application and deadlines.
New and upcoming directors can submit their scripts to the forum for appraisal till the end of August. The processing for investment and filmmaking is expected to start by November 2013.
Under this project, full length films (full length feature film or full length documentary) of 90 minutes to 120 minutes will be produced.
The executive and the advisory committees of the Bengal Cinema Development Forum will decide on the final selection of the scripts, said the organisers.
Asaduzzaman Noor MP is the chairman of the advisory committee of the Bengal Cinema Development Forum. The members are Syed Shamsul Haque, Morshedul Islam, Luva Nahid Choudhury, Sajjad Sharif, Manzarehsasin Murad, Shameem Akhtar, Shahidul Islam Khokon, Robin Davies, Catherine Masud and Afsana Mimi.
Luva Nahid Choudhury is the chairperson of the executive committee and Nobonita Chowdhury is the General Secretary. N Rashed Chowdhury is the Project Coordinator. Nurul Alam Atik is the Communications Coordinator. Members are Abul Hasnat, Abrar Khair, Tanvir Hossain Probal.
