A domestic helper was allegedly beaten to death by house-owner at Gournadi in Barisal on Sunday.
Witnesses said the house-owner, Sankha Banik, a resident of Batajor at Gournadi, mercilessly beat the victim, Rabindranath Bepari, 20, on Sunday as he had gone to enjoy a folk song programme and failed to attend the Sankha Banik on time.
Sankha chased and beat up him again as Rabindranath tried to escape from the torture. Rabindra-nath died at about 11:00am.
The officer-in-charge of Gournadi police station, Nurul Islam, said the police recovered the body from a betel leaf plantation and sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed accusing Sankha Banik and his two brothers who fled the area.
