“King Khan” brought his global star power to the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival as he was honored with a lifetime achievement award, the Pardo Alla Carriera award on Saturday (August 10) night.
Numerous photos and videos of the actor at the event surfaced on social media. For the occasion, Shah Rukh wore a black shirt, jacket, and trousers.
Shah Rukh Khan, upon receiving the award, joked about its weight, eliciting laughter from the audience. Visibly sweating in the hot weather, he expressed his delight at being in Locarno, describing it as a ‘beautiful, cultural, artistic, and extremely hot city with so many people crammed into a small square.’ He humourously added, “It’s just like being home in India.”
During his speech, a fan screamed ‘I love you’ from the crowd. SRK replied, “I love you also. All dramatics continues after the serious speech. It’s the Locarno Film Festival, we all need to sound intellectual, ok?”
He added, “My day has been wonderful, the food has been nice, my Italian is improving, so has been my cooking.” He then spoke Italian and translated, “I can cook pasta and pizza also. I’m learning here in Locarno.”
“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and from India. Namaskaar and dhanyawaad (Hello, thank you). God bless you all”, he said, concluding his speech.
