Theatre actor Shahadat Hossain has been cast in a major role in Rubaiyat Hossain’s new film Under Construction. This is Shahadat’s debut work in the country’s film arena.
‘Film is a large platform where an actor can put his/her dreams into action. I am happy to get an opportunity to work in a film’, said Shahadat.
The actor shared that Rubaiyat Hossain’s film Under Construction does not have a ‘filmy’ storyline like the director’s previous film Meherjan had; rather it is a story of an ordinary contemporary man’s family life.
The film will show Shahadat as a successful architect who is a careerist and a rational, formal, calculated and busy individual whose conjugal life unfolds in the film.
‘We often do not notice the inside nuances of a contemporary family which is of real value in any person’s life and career’, said Shahadat Hossain.
Bollywood actress Sahana Goswami, who has acted in Bollywood films like Ra-one, Rock On, Midnight’s Children, Firaaq, Yun Hota to Kya Hota, is paired with Shahadat in the film. It is Goswami’s first appearance in any Bangladeshi film. Shooting for the film has begun from August 1st at different locations in the capital.
‘The director hopes to release the film in next January simultaneously in three countries- Bangladesh, India and America’, informed Shahadat Hossain.
Shahadat Hossain has been working for the professional theatre troupe Centre for Asian Theatre since 1997. His commendable theatre appearances include Centre for Asian Theatre’s successful productions like Bhelua Shundari, Peer Gynt, Raja, The Lady from the Sea and The Communicator.
‘Theatre is my passion. It is impossible for me to detach myself from theatre. I appear on stage in almost every show and production of Centre for Asian Theatre’, Shahadat Hossain told New Age.
Shahadat is also a familiar face in theatre for children. He is one of the regular casts of Sisimpur, a children programme telecast on the state-run BTV.
