Sharmilee Ahmed has achieved popularity acting the role of mothers these days. The seasoned actress, however, has experiences of acting for over five decades in diverse characters in films and teleplays.
From her vast experiences as a regular artiste, Sharmilee had the chance to scrutinise the entertainment industry very closely indeed.
The seasoned actor observes that the upcoming artistes of the television industry of the country are talented but they should work on their punctuality.
‘Young, aspiring artistes can do much better if they are more careful about time management,’ Sharmilee mentioned in an interview with New Age. She shared an experience of a shooting where the senior artistes reported at the scheduled time of 10:00am but they had to wait another six hours for the younger artistes to arrive and the shooting to begin.
‘Traffic jam shouldn’t be an excuse because we all live in the same city,’ Sharmilee explained.
Regardless, Sharmilee holds a very high impression about the acting capacity of the young artistes. ‘The forthcoming artistes are doing really well. Some of them are very promising and I believe they will only get better with time,’ observed Sharmilee, who also feels that nowadays the young artistes are relatively more privileged comparing to actors in her era.
‘Access to internet, overseas television channels, mobile and many other facilities that were unthinkable in the past, is readily available nowadays. It is now a matter of seconds to browse the internet and become acquainted with the acting skills and biography of any famous actor across the globe. Watching foreign films has also become easy. An actor should utilise these privileges for skill development,’ said Sharmilee, who has acted in numerous films and television plays since her first appearance in a theatrical show, directed by her father Tofazzal Hossain, a theatre activist in Rajshahi when she was only four years old.
According to Sharmilee, the television industry has enough female actors but it demands some good male artistes.
