Popular theatre troupe Shobdo Natyacharcha Kendra is organising a three-day theatre festival to celebrate its 19th founding anniversary at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from September 25-27. The festival will include staging of five plays of the troupe at the Music and Dance Centre of the academy. The troupe will stage Tritiyo Ekjon, written and directed by Samir Das Gupta and Ananta Hira respectively, on the opening day of the festival at 7:00pm.
The second day of the festival will feature Thikana and Rifle. Thikana is written by Santosh Chakraborty and directed by Khorshedul Alam; while Rifle, an adaptation of Asit Chandra from a story with the same title by German playwright Bertolt Brecht is directed by Khorshedul Alam.
Darpan Shakkhi, written by Chandan Sen and directed by Khorshedul Alam and Informer written by Shantonu Biswas and directed by Khorshedul Alam will be staged on the concluding day of the festival.
Shobdo Natyacharcha Kendra started its journey in 1995 in Chittagong. The troupe moved to Dhaka in 2007 and has been active in theatre since then.
