Bangladesh’s iconic golfer Siddikur Rahman missed an opportunity to participate in a European Tour with prize money of one million euro as he was denied of an Austrian visa on Sunday.
Siddik, who finished second in the Afro-Asia Bank Mauritius Open last month, was supposed to participate in the Lyoness Open in Austria that is scheduled to get underway from Thursday.
‘As there is no Austrian visa office here in Dhaka I asked for visa through French embassy and was waiting for it till Sunday evening,’ said Siddik.
‘But I didn’t get the visa till today [Sunday] so I had to cancel my air-ticket booking.’
Siddik, who is in contention for this year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, will fly for Thailand on Thursday to participate in a tournament that will start on June 16.
