Country’s ace golfer Siddikur Rahman carded a poor six-over-par 78 in the final round as he went 13 places down to finish joint 18th in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters in Taipei on Sunday.
Siddik was in a commendable position after round three as he stood 5th in the competition, but lost his way in the last round at the Taiwan Golf & Country Club which took his total to seven-over-par 295.
The Bangladeshi shared the place with Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit and local golfer Lin Wen-tang and earned $6,600 from the tournament.
The poor finish was, however, a better show than his previous two outings this month. He missed the cut at Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open and finished 37th in the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship.
The result also lifted Siddik one place to eight in the Asian Order of Merit list with a total earning of $176,580.32 this year.
TSAI Chi-huang of the host country held onto his lead as he clinched the title with scores of four-under-par 284 and earned $120,000 as prize money while Philippine’s Antonio Lascuna finished second in the $600,000 tournament.
