Ace Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman will look to end the season on a high as he departed for Thailand on Sunday to take part in the King’s Cup golf tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to get underway on January 16 at Black Mountain Golf Club and this will be Siddik’s last competition of the season before the Eurasia Cup in March.
The 29-year-old Bangladeshi golfer is eyeing a good display in the King’s Cup which will help him in qualifying for the prestigious Eurasia Cup, played between the top European and Asian golfers.
Siddik is currently third in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, behind Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Scott Hend of Australia. After the end of the King’s Cup, only the top four Asian golfers from the Asian Tour Order of Merit will earn the right to participate in the Eurasia Cup.
The Eurasia Cup will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from March 27-29 and will feature prize money of US$4 million.
‘It is definitely my goal to qualify for the Eurasia Cup. I think it is going to be an exciting event. I hope I will be able to play. It looks like I’m in a good position to qualify,’ Siddik was quoted as saying on Friday on the Asian Tour website.
Siddik will compete in the King’s Cup alongside Hend, defending champion and local hope Arnond Vongvanji and Indian golfers Anirban Lahiri and Jyoti Randhawa, among others.
The King’s Cup has a prize money of US$1 million and will conclude on January 19.
