Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman fired a six-under-par 66 to finish round one in a six-way tie for first place at the $1.25 million Hero Indian Open in Delhi on Thursday.
Siddik hit six birdies in his first round to share the overnight lead at the Delhi Golf Club with Rahil Ganjee, Mardan Mamat, Pariya Junhasavasdikul, Chapchai Nirat and Carlos Pigem.
Siddik, who will be one of 13 Asian golfers at the golf World Cup in Melbourne
later this month, credited the showing to a change in his approach following the CIMB Classic in Malaysia two weeks ago, where he played with Major champions Keegan Bradley and Bubba Watson.
‘They played very aggressively. Most players can hit the ball but not all of them can play like them. Since then, I’ve been trying to play more aggressively and the results seem to be showing,’ said Siddik.
Siddik tees off his second round at 11:55am (BST) today.
