Ace Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman was in course for his third Asian Tour title when he finished the third round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in top spot with three-under-par 69 in Anahita on Saturday. Siddik, who finished the second round in joint third place, fired four birdies against one bogey to end the third round in total seven-under-par 209. World number 406 Sidik has won two Asian Tour titles, but is seeking his first on the European Tour in this co-sanctioned event.
The 31-year-old has not finished in the top 20 of any tournament since November, but he got off to a quick start at Four Seasons Golf Club with a birdie at the first hole of the US$1.9 million event.
‘I really enjoyed my round today, it was a very special day for me,’ Siddik told www.europeantour.com.
‘I am very excited and I will try to enjoy myself tomorrow [Sunday]. One more day to go. Nothing’s going to change.
‘I’ll just try and play the same way as I did for the last few days. I am looking forward to playing in the leader group again tomorrow.’
Jeunghun Wang of Korea remained in second spot of the leaderboard by firing one-under-par 71 and total six-under-par 210.
He was followed by Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and second round’s top finisher Andrew Dodt of Australia, who carded a third round one-over-par 73 and five-over-par 77 respectively but remained in joint third place with a total of three-under-par 213.
