Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman was still in the running for the Macau Open title after the conclusion of the third round’s play as he ended the penultimate day in joint second position at the Macau Golf and Country Club on Saturday. Siddik hit four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey to finish the day carding one-under-par 71 and an overall eight-under-par 205 in the US$800,000 event.
Going into the final day, Siddik was four shots behind Australia’s Scott Hend,
who was leading the standings after posting a fine eight-under-par 63 in round three. South African golfer Ernie Els was also occupying joint second place, alongside Siddik.
Siddik struck birdies in the 5th, 7th, 8th and 15th holes while the single bogey arrived in the 17th hole. Were it not for a double bogey in the 12 hole, the Bangladeshi golfer could easily have been above Hend and Els in the standings.
The 28-year-old Bangladeshi golfer was refusing to get carried away ahead of the final round saying that he had previous experiences of playing in the pivotal moments.
‘I’m not going to put pressure on myself. I’ve got the experience of playing many times in the leader group. I’m just going to play my own game and that’s probably the best for me,’ Siddik was quoted as saying on the Asian Tour website on Saturday.
‘The last three days have been really good. My target will be to play the fairways and greens better,’ he added.
