Bangladesh will go into the third one-day international against Zimbabwe today without their coach Jamie Siddons, who left for Australia to be with his pregnant girlfriend Kim late on Sunday.
Siddons, who attended a practice session in the morning, hardly had any idea about the tour and hastily arranged an air ticket of the Australia-bound Singapore Airlines only after he received a phone call from his Melbourne home in the afternoon.
Kim, mother of Siddons’ first child,
had left Dhaka only on Friday.
‘Kim felt pain on the plane and doctors suspect the birth of a premature baby. If everything goes right, he [Siddons] will return by next available flight,’ said Enayet Hossain Siraj, chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations committee.
Julien Fountain, the fielding coach of the side, will take his place, said Siraj.
The match will start at 9:00am instead of 2:30pm as planned earlier because of floodlight problems at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
