The Foreign Ministry on Thursday revealed the identities of six Bangladeshis who died in a chemical factory fire in Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
All the six victims were from Shariatpur district, said a press release, issued by the ministry. The deceased have been identified as Md Alamin Mollik, Ali Akbar, Md Khobir Uddin, Md Bachchu Howlader, Zakir Hossain and Mizan.
The fire broke out in a pesticide factory at Ali Musa area of Sharjah city on Sunday night. At first the fire started from the pesticides factory named Al Nafiee Int. Gen. Tradina and then spread to two nearby factories named Al Anwar Carton & Packaging and Al Shams Carpentry.
Few other people were injured in the fire and were admitted to local hospitals.
An official of the Bangladesh mission visited the spot and the Ambassador himself visited the injured at the hospital. The Embassy is in touch with the authorities concerned and after identifying the dead bodies and receiving clearance from the police, the bodies would be repatriated to Bangladesh at the earliest, says the release.
