At least six people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj, Faridpur, Chapainawabganj, Thakurgaon, and Natore yesterday and on Monday.
Our correspondent from Kishoreganj reports: Two bicycle riders were killed and five others injured in a road accident on Nikli-Kaliachapra road in Nuabari of Katiadi upazila in the district yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Safir Uddin Bachu, 40, of Diaqul village and Ataur Rahman Abu Mia, 55, of Durgapur village of Katiadi.
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
The accident occurred around 11:00pm when a pickup van from Kaliachapra crushed a bicycle, killing both the cycle riders on the spot. The van then rammed into a roadside tree injuring five.
Locals vandalised the van and blocked the road till police reached the spot.
Our Correspondent from Faridpur says: One person was killed and another injured in a road accident at Bhati Kanipur area in Sadar upazila of Faridpur early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Amir Hamza, 47, a farmer of Haludbaria of Kanaipur union of Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred near Bhati Kanipur bridge area around 9:15am when a speeding truck hit a jute-laden van, on which Amir Hamza was riding, killing him on the spot. Meanwhile the unidentified van puller was seriously injured and sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Our Correspondent from Chapainawabganj adds: A motorcyclist was crushed under the wheels of a truck in Kalyanpur area in Chapainawabganj town on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannan, 43, son of late Omar Ali of Namoshankarbati Moholla of Chapainawabagnj.
The accident occurred in front of the BDR camp around 7:00pm when a goods-laden truck crushed Mannan while he was on his way home from Mondomala haat.
Police sent the body to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon says: An unidentified youth was killed in a road accident on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh road near Kachubari Board Office in Sadar upazila on Monday night.
Sub-Inspector of Thakurgaon Police Station, Nazmul Hasan, said a Panchagarh-bound goods-laden truck crushed the man aged around 18.
Police sent the body to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Our Natore correspondent reports: An elderly woman was killed in a road accident at Baluabasua of Singra in Natore yesterday morning.
The deceased, Sosti Rani, 75, was resident of the village Cahugram under the upazila.
Police and witnesses said the accident took place when a Natore bound truck hit Sosti while she was crossing the road near Baluabasua bus stand. She died on the spot.
Locals barricaded the Natore-Bogra highway for one hour, demanding speed breaker to prevent road accident. The barricade was withdrawn at 10:00am after police reached there.
