The Bangla Academy on Saturday declared the names of six winners for the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2010.
Rubi Rahman and Nasir Ahmed has been named for the award for their contribution to poetry, Bulbul Ahmed for creative writing, Khan Sarwar Murshid for the research article, Ajay Rai for his contribution to science and technology and Shahjahan Kibria for juvenile literature.
Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzamn Khan announced the names on the day.
The awards will be handed over to the recipients on the Ekushey book fair main stage at 4:00pm on February 26. Each of them will receive a crest and Tk 1 lakh.
The Ekushey book fair as usual drew a large crowd on the day, with 87 new titles hitting the book fair on its 20th day while 24 new books were launched on the day.
The fair venue turned into a human sea just after the afternoon, with hardly any room left for the visitors to move around the fair ground.
Salesmen of different stalls were found busy selling and displaying books from the morning to attract the booklovers.
Stall attendants and publishers said that they made a good business on the day.
The education policy 2010 is now available in book form at the Ekushey book fair.
The education minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, formally inaugurated the sale of the policy in book format at the fair on Sunday.
Visitors will be able to buy it from the stall of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board in the book fair.
At the main stage of the book fair Amar Ekeshuey Memorial Lecture will be held. Writer Golam Murshid will deliver the lecture.
The book fair on 21st February will remain open from 8:00am till 10:00pm for the visitors.
