Mixed albums featuring upcoming singers released
Set against the backdrop of the slumped trade market, audio production companies have not taken any major initiative for a big budget project targeting the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
Mixed albums featuring popular and upcoming singers will be the main attraction by the audio CD music industry for Pahela Baishakh celebrations just like it has been for the past few years.
Contacting six leading audio music production companies, New Age found that around fifty albums will be released around the festival. No popular singers neither leading bands are releasing any solo album for this occasion, which used to be the case once upon a time.
‘The industry has been suffering from huge business loss for piracy and free distributions of songs through USB devices and Internet. The current political situation has further aggravated it. So, we are not in the position to take risk by initiating big budget projects,’ said Nazmul Haque Bhuiya, owner of G-series, one of the top production houses.
G-Series launched a mixed album titled Reincarnation featuring different bands, two mixed albums of solo singers: Ei Bhalobasha featuring Fahmida Nabi, Leemon and Al Amin and Hit Album-4 featuring Bappa Majumdar, Tapu and Tahsan.
Another big production house Laser Vision also treaded along the same path. ‘We are trying to keep the industry alive despite many odds. But, piracy, political turmoil and HSC examinations hampered the audio industry in the Pahela Baishakh celebrations,’ said Mazharul Islam, managing director of Laser Vision.
Laser Vision released Shireen’s third solo Rangila. Other solo albums launched by the house include Biplob Mrinal’s ‘Phul Bhromora’ and Jonny’s ‘Suchona’. It has also released mixed album Baji featuring various artistes including Rajib, Wakil, Ershad Wahid and another mixed album featuring upcoming artistes titled Bondhutter Joy.
CD Choice also released several mixed and solo albums and a music video including Kheya’s Mon Mane Na, Imran’s solo Tumi, Arif’s Dao Hat Bariye-2, and Tausif and Tinti’s duet Meghla Dine. Music video titled Bhalobashar Porosh- Chart-3 features videos of tracks sung by singers like Nancy, Porshi, Arifin Rumi, Shahid and others. Another mixed album of bands titled Folk Rock featuring fusion music by Durbin, Freed, Bijoyroth, Baysardho, Shabdo kobi and others has been released by the same label.
Another music production company Sangeeta released mixed albums titled Mon Bole Dao, Dhum Dharaka, Rongdhonu, Sadhinota Bangladesh and three solos- Bill Board Bhalobasa by Shubho, Ektu Bhabo by Wahid Faiyz and Nishho Bhalobasa by Shornaly.
‘Close up 1’ star Rinku will release his solo ‘Baul Beshe Rabindronath’ featuring Tagore songs from his own company Somporko.
Impress Audio Vision released a solo of Akramul Islam featuring mystic songs.
