Smoking, both active and passive, causes cancer of lung, throat, mouth and stomach and it also affects heart functioning and breathing, speakers at a participatory discussion said in Rajshahi on Thursday. They viewed there has been many evidences that smoking and uses of tobacco products kill thousands of people every year. So, there is no alternative to adopt strict measures for substantial reduction of the use of tobacco.
The observations came at the ‘Divisional level workshop for the Taskforce Committee Members to Implement Tobacco Control Law (Amendment 2013)’ held at the office conference hall of divisional director of Health.
National Tobacco Control Cell under the ministry of health and family planning organised the workshop.
