The state-owned Sonali Bank and Indian financial technology service provider PolarisFT on Wednesday launched a joint venture company to provide banking solutions in Bangladesh.
The new company, Sonali Polaris FT Limited, will provide various banking solution to Sonali Bank and others banks of the country.‘Polaris Bangladesh has successfully implemented intellect CBS in the Sonali Bank and it will meet the business and technology need of country’s largest business segment,’ SPFTL chief executive officer Tariqul Afzal said at the launching ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonali Bank managing director Pradip Kumar Dutta said, ‘We partner with the Polaris to replace the existing banking system with latest system. It will enhance functionality and customers’ experience.’
Polaris geographical head K Srinivasan said that the company will provide latest solution customised for the public and commercial banks of the country.
Industries minister Dilip Barua while speaking as chief guest said that such an initiative by the two companies is a very timely move and supports the Vision 2021 of the present government.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankj Saran also welcomed the move.
‘Some Bangladeshi companies are aggressively planning for the Indian market and we are ready to provide full support to those,’ he said while speaking as the special guest on the occasion.
Sonali Bank chairman AHM Habibur Rahman was also present at the function, among others.
