Sonali Bank boosted their chance of qualifying for the Super Six of the Premier Hockey League when they came from behind to beat Sadharan Bima 3-2 at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. With the victory, Sonali Bank moved to joint eighth of the points table along with Ajax Sporting Club with seven points from eight matches, two points behind sixth-placed Bangladesh Sporting Club.
Sadharan Bima remained in 10th place with six points from same number of outings.
Bima went to the break with a 2-0 lead with Farhan Ali scoring both the goals in the seventh and 31st minute but Sonali Bank reduced the margin one minute into the second half with a strike from Rabbi Salehin.
Toseef Ahmed levelled the margin in the 44th minute and sealed the win with his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute.
In the day’s other match, Dhaka Wanderers Club and Wari Club played out a 1-1 draw at the same venue.
