The leading crafts and fashion design houses of the country will hold an exhibition on souvenir and gift items for tourists from today showcasing Bangladesh.
The exhibition, titled ‘Smriti Upahar Prodarshani’, will be held from February 5 to February 10 at Drik Gallery and commerce minister Ghulam Muhammad Quader will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest.
The event will be supported by Katalyst, a market development project under commerce ministry, a press conference was told.
Five leading design houses – Nipun, Prabartana, Anjan’s, Shadakalo and Bibiana – along with Nitya Upahar, Orbachin, Kumudini and CORR-the Jute Works – handicraft makers, will display their souvenir products in the exhibition.
Earlier, the organisations had participated in a souvenir design and development programme organised by the Asian Institute of Technology of Thailand.
Ten members from ten design houses, one from each house, with Chandra Shekhar Shaha as team leader, attended the six-week workshop in Thailand.
