A special parliamentary committee has okayed 54 ordinances out of 122 promulgated by the President during the immediate-past caretaker government for enactment as laws during the ongoing first session of parliament.
The special committee, headed by Advocate Rahmat Ali MP of the ruling Awami League, will submit its scrutiny report on the ordinances Tuesday before the parliament.
Rahmat told reporters the committee endorsed the 54 ordinances “considering public interest in compliance with article 58 (D) of the Constitution”.
The ordinances that were approved by the special panel are related to finance, budget, money laundering, public procurement, income tax, Bangladesh Biman Corporation, City Corporations and Local Government, Land Acquisition for
Padma Bridge, Consumers Right, BTTB, NBR, Public Servant Dismissal on Conviction, Right to Information Act, President and Supreme Court judges remunerations, RPO, Election Commission Secretariat, PSC Members, and Human Rights Commission.
As per constitutional provisions, the ordinances have to be enacted during the current session of the 9th parliament which is to continue up to this month-end.
