The Secondary School Certificate and equivalent exams will begin today.
According to the education ministry, 20,72,163 candidates are likely to take this year’s SSC and equivalent exams.
The exams will be held on all subjects with full marks but on revised syllabuses.
They will be held in 3,810 centres across the country for students from 29,798 schools, madrasas, and technical institutions, and some 374 students abroad.
Education Minister Dipu Moni on Tuesday said only exam centre secretaries will be allowed to use phones, but without internet or camera facilities, in the centres.
Students are directed to arrive at the centres 30 minutes before the exams, while set codes for questions papers will be sent to them via SMS 25 minutes before exams begin.
Specially-abled students will get an additional 20-30 minutes, the minister told reporters.
Meanwhile, all coaching centres have been closed, upon directives, from April 26 and will remain so till May 23.
Additionally, Dhaka Metropolitan Police in a press release issue on April 27 said that in order to ensure a fair and peaceful exam environment, none except the candidates will be allowed within 200 yards of the centres during the exams.
Exams under the general board will end on May 23, while practical exams will take place from the 24th till the 30th.
Results will be published within 60 days of the end of the exams, Dipu Moni said.
Saying that all preparations and cautions have been taken for the exams, she further said there was no chance of question-paper leaks this year, reports UNB.
She made these remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Dakshin Aicha Principal Nazrul Islam College of Bhola’s Char Fasson Upazila as chief guest yesterday afternoon.
