An alleged stalker was arrested at Chapajura village in Jhenaigati upazila of the district on Thursday while he was trying to kidnap a schoolgirl.
The arrested was identified as Sohag, 20, son of Abdul Mannan of the upazila headquarters.
The Jhenaigati police officer-in-charge Belal Uddin Tarafder, said Sohag used to harass the schoolgirl on her way to and from school and give her illicit offer.
The girl’s family complained to Sohag’s family repeatedly about the matter, but of no avail.
On Friday at noon, Sohag wearing a burqa lay in wait in front of the house of the girl with a hired CNG-run auto-rickshaw to abduct her, the OC added.
Local people caught him and handed him over to the police.
