A stalker yesterday was awarded one year’s imprisonment and fined Tk 500, in default he has to suffer another seven days’ imprisonment by a mobile court in Patuakhali town.
Md Saiful Islam, executive magistrate, delivered the judgment after hearing both sides. It is the first judgment on a stalking case in the district.
The stalker was identified as Masud Ali, 28 of Dunki upazila town.
Mobile court sources said, Masud was harassing Amena Begum, wife of Shafiqul Islam and also mother of a child, over the cell phone for long.
At about 11:00am yesterday when Amena went to Natun Bazar for Eid shopping, Masud followed her and offered love. She informed her husband and he instantly informed the mobile court.
