Stars Sports and Ten Sports are among the bidders for Bangladesh’s media rights for the next six years, said the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday.
Gazi Television and a private consortium Mediacom also bought the tender documents, providing BCB a major boost in their quest for a permanent broadcaster for the Bangladesh’s home series.
‘We are pleased that several international and local broadcasters have already purchased the tender documents,’ Kazi Inam Ahmed, chairman of the BCB’s marketing department, told New Age on the day.
‘We hope to see some of the Asian major broadcasters bidding this time. As Bangladesh cricket improves, selling the long-term rights is key for developing Bangladesh cricket,’ said Inam, without naming any bidders
The BCB floated the tenders to sell worldwide media rights for six years until 2020 when Bangladesh will hosts
at least 31 Tests, 33-47 one-day internationals and 14 Twenty20 Internationals. The matches include two home series against India.
Interested parties can buy the tender documents until May 8 with the BCB set to open the bids on May 12 .
