Dhaka stocks closed mixed on Tuesday with the market remaining in seesaw movements.
The general index at the Dhaka Stock Exchange gained 9.74 points, or 0.36 per cent, to close at 2726.27, while its blue chips index, DSE20, lost 13.05 points, or 0.58 per cent, to finish at 2222.61.
Starting with an upbeat mood, the market started falling after one hour of the day’s trading, DSE stockbrokers said.
Recent downtrend at the market prompted retail investors to go for a quick capital gain after the market gained in the first hour because of institutional buying spree, they said.
Before the recent bear run, the market had been in a bull run for a couple of weeks thanks to an increased participation of investors after a two-and-a-half-month lull.
Turnover at the DSE increased to Tk 392.66 crore on Tuesday from the Monday’s Tk 359.54 crore.
Titas Gas topped the turnover leaders with a total transaction of Tk 71.78 crore.
Beximco, Summit Power, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Shinepukur Ceramics, Grameen Two Mutual Fund, Summit Alliance Port, ACI Formulations, Aims 1st Mutual Fund and ICB 2nd NRB Mutual Fund were the rest of the top 10 turnover leaders on the day.
Of the total 257 issues traded, 142 advanced, 105 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
