Two teleplays Hiramon and Akash Kusum featuring street children in lead roles were premiered on Thursday at Bashundhara Star Cineplex.
All the children who acted in the plays were present at the premiere show, along with the director of the teleplays Mamunur Rashid and
other technicians involved with the productions.
Actor-director Mamunur Rashid has adapted the stories for the teleplays from Tagore’s Totakahini and Daakghar.
Adapted from Totakahini, teleplay Hiramoni features the story of a bird which, when caged, denies to take any food. Akash kusum, adapted from Daakghar, depicts an ailing child Kusum, who misses outdoor entertainments.
Both of the productions have been produced by under Plan-Bangladesh’s ‘protection of vulnerable children’ programme.
Country director of Plan-Bangladesh Ming Ming Remeta Evora was present as the chief guest and Milon Bikash Pal, former executive director of PSTC was present as special guest.
‘These children have made the impossible possible’, said Evora who hoped to work more with and for the street children.
‘It is a really appreciating work done by Bangla Communication and Plan-Bangladesh’, said Arif Hossain Romel one of many viewers present at the show.
But, most interesting part of the show was enthusiasm of the street children who acted in plays, especially during the time when they were projected on screen.
After the shows, DVDs of the plays were launched.
Hiramon and Akash Kusum will be aired on different TV channels later on.
The plays were produced by under the banner of Bangla Communication.
