Students of four schools in the city’s West Dhanmondi area on Monday gathered to participate in a cultural and discussion programme to create mass awareness against stalking.
Voluntary organisation Rural Health and Development Society exhibited comic books depicting the issues which would help children to easily understand the stalking and domestic violence.
Ali Hossain Girls’ High School, Mohammadpur Girls’ High School, Mohammadpur Government High School and West Dhanmondi Yusuf High School took part in this student campaign organised by Rural Health and Development Society.
Speaking at the discussion meeting, Rakiba Begum, a teacher of Mohammadpur Girls’ High School, said this campaign against stalking would be more effective if they could involve the parents as well. She also said parents should be liable for their children’s misdeeds like stalking.
Social Worker Nader Khan pointed out that society could get rid of such evil malady like stalking through building a shield against it.
He also urged for forming area-wise stalking prevention committees.
Shadat Hossain, head teacher of West Dhanmondi Yusuf High School who chaired the campaign, said girls should be united to resist this sort of problem.
Teachers and students vowed to keep their schools free from stalking.
