Unhealthy Food, Slow Internet
Students of three RU dorms stage protest
Residential students yesterday vandalised three dormitories at Rajshahi University demanding quality food and high speed internet connectivity.
They alleged that they were often falling sick for consumption of unhygienic food at the dining halls, while WiFi connections there were too slow to even check an email.
When Prof Narayan Roy and Prof Mostofa Sharif Anwar, provosts of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall and Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall, tried to placate them, the protestors confined the two to their offices for one hour each and demanded their resignation.
They were freed upon intervention of Proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan.
Talking to The Daily Star, the provosts said they assured the students of meeting their demands after consulting the higher authority.
Over the same demands, students also vandalised the Nawab Abdul Latif Hall provost office.
